Karen Odden received her Ph.D. in English literature from New York University and has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She formerly served as the assistant editor for the academic journal Victorian Literature and Culture, and her essays of literary criticism have appeared in numerous other journals as well as in Barnes and Noble editions of books by Dickens and Trollope. Her first novel, A LADY IN THE SMOKE, was a USA Today bestseller and won the 2017 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award for ebook fiction. Her second book, A DANGEROUS DUET, also set in 1870s England, is available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook from HarperCollins; and her next book, A TRACE OF DECEIT, about a young woman painter at the Slade Art School in 1875 London, will be out later this year.
